Quilt Camp 2009 - Thursday July 30, 1:00 - Sunday August 2, 1:00
Sponsored by Sew Biz Inc., Quilt Camp is both a relaxing good time and an exciting and stimulating event open to all levels of quilters, including beginners. Camp fees are $250 for four days, which includes directions and instruction for a stunning "Mystery Quilt," and for several small projects. Kits and supplies will be available for purchase. Supply lists will be available at the end of June, giving you time to round up fabrics and supplies that you may already have. All meals and snacks are included. Overnight at Selu is $20 per night; the linen fee is $6 for your stay. You can bring your own bed linens and towels if you prefer.
Bring any of your projects in progress to work on if you wish, and plan your camp adventure to suit yourself. "Show and Tell" time is on the agenda. Walking trails will beckon, and reading or napping under a big shade tree will be fun, too.
The setting for the camp is the Selu Conservatory - 380 beautiful acres of mountains, woods, trails and the New River. The main gathering room is The Barn, with ample room to set up your camp "studio" and to spread out a quilt as needed. The adjoining open porch at tree-top level is marvelous for meals and snack breaks. Sleeping accommodations are "camp-like," featuring bunk beds. Alternatively, local campers can elect to commute to their homes at night, or others might prefer near-by motels (Comfort Inn, Best Western, and LaQuinta.... 2 to 3 miles from Selu). Our workspace in the barn is air-conditioned as are the bunk rooms in the Lodge. Visit the Selu homepage to see more pictures and learn more about the conservatory.
It is not necessary to pay any fees until June 1, but payment of the camp fee or a deposit will be welcome anytime, and your space will then be reserved.
Every year, we collect photos, recipes we enjoyed, and more for you to share.
