Reversible Quilt As You Go

This is a technique class. You will learn to construct the individual blocks as well as the technique necessary to be able to sew them together using a sashing technique designed for quilt-as-you-go. Each block will be 9 1/2", (9" finished). When the blocks are finished, you can arrange them any way that is pleasing to you! Use you stash for the random strips in the block. You may want to go with a color palate or theme (Christmas, Winter, Spring, ect). I used all brightly colored batiks from my stash for the quilt on display. I would recommend that you first choose what color you want the "background" fabric to be. My background is done in black, but if you look closely, you will see that there are actually four different kinds of subtle black blenders. there is not a commercial pattern for this method, but I will supply some handouts for you to follow.

Supplies: 
You will need lots of random sized fabric scraps to cut for strips. It is possible to use a jelly-roll for the strips, but you may not wind up with a wide variety of widths.
Background fabric yardage for your blocks,  the amount depends on the number of blocks you will make.
10" squares of batting, you may use scraps but be consistent in the loft of the batting.
Sewing machine
Straight pins
18" straight ruler
10" or larger square ruler
Rotary cutter with a new blade
Walking foot for your machine

Please have six to eight 10" squares of batting cut ahead of time.
Please have twelve to sixteen 10 1/2" squares of your background fabric cut ahead of time.
